If you log qemu kernel output, you better use `CONFIG_VIRTIO_CONSOLE=y` and `console=hvc0` instead of `console=ttyS0` .My testcase shows 3 seconds for hvc0 and 6 seconds for ttyS0.

Turned on squashfs compression for FedoraBook. I was afraid, that with compression enabled, xdelta would not produce small deltas. But it does!! 😀
root.img changed from 4.1GB to 1.8GB
Delta for no-change: 20MB
Delta from current Fedora 29 to Fedora 30: 633MB
